Terms of Service for Perimeter
Effective date: September 19, 2026
Last updated: September 19, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and For Purpose Labs LLC ("we", "us") governing your use of the Perimeter iOS app. By downloading or using Perimeter, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
1. What Perimeter does
Perimeter blocks apps and websites you select, based on your device's location, schedules you configure, and break allowances you set. It uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) framework to apply blocks.
Perimeter is designed to fail closed by default: when it cannot verify your location — because location access was revoked, the device lost signal, the app was force-quit, or the device restarted — your selected apps remain blocked rather than becoming available.
Perimeter also offers an alternative safety mode in Settings that behaves differently in those situations. If you change this setting, the protection described above no longer applies, and apps may become available when location cannot be verified.
2. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Perimeter on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, modify, resell, or redistribute the app except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
3. Subscriptions, trial, and billing
Free features. Core blocking works without a subscription, as do schedules and break allowances. Once configured, blocks continue to enforce whether or not you hold an active subscription.
Perimeter Pro unlocks additional features, including up to 20 zones, multiple blocklists, and custom zone radius. The exact feature split is shown in the app and may change; we will not move an existing free feature behind the subscription without notice in the app.
Pricing. US pricing is $7.99 per month or $59.99 per year. Prices in other regions are set by Apple's pricing tiers and by local tax, and will differ. The price shown in the App Store at the time of purchase is the price that applies.
Free trial. New subscribers are offered a 3-day free trial. Trial availability is determined by Apple and generally applies once per Apple Account per subscription group. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription begins and you will be charged.
Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period.
Managing and cancelling. Manage or cancel your subscription in iOS Settings ▸ your name ▸ Subscriptions, or in the App Store. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Payment and refunds. All purchases are processed by Apple. We never receive or handle your payment details. Refunds are governed by Apple's policies and issued at Apple's discretion — request them through Apple, not us. We cannot issue, approve, or expedite refunds.
Offer codes. Promotional codes we distribute are subject to their stated terms and expiry, are non-transferable, and have no cash value.
4. Settings passcode — read this carefully
Perimeter allows you to set a passcode protecting settings changes.
By default, every settings change requires the passcode. If you enable Password-Free Actions in Settings, you can choose to allow specific changes without it — adding zones, adding new schedules, and turning enforcement on. Only changes that make restrictions stricter can be enabled this way. Changes that weaken or remove restrictions always require the passcode.
If you give the passcode to someone else, you are choosing to depend on that person's availability and cooperation to reduce your own restrictions. Consider carefully whether that arrangement works for you before setting it up.
We cannot recover or bypass your passcode. It is stored only on your device. If you forget it and no one else holds it, your only remedy is deleting and reinstalling the app, which removes all settings and blocks. If you have also restricted app deletion through iOS Screen Time or a configuration profile, that remedy may not be available to you.
You are solely responsible for maintaining a way to regain access to your own device.
5. Limitations you should understand
Perimeter depends on systems we do not control. It may not block as expected because of:
- Location accuracy limits. iOS cannot reliably distinguish areas smaller than roughly 100 metres, and location events may be delayed by minutes. Perimeter permits smaller radii, with a warning in the app, but reliability degrades accordingly.
- iOS behaviour and changes. Apple may alter, restrict, or remove the frameworks Perimeter relies on at any time.
- Device conditions — low power mode, restarts, lost signal, storage pressure, or background termination by iOS.
- Alternative access. Perimeter blocks apps on the device where it is installed. It cannot prevent access through other devices, other browsers, other accounts, or restoring the device.
Perimeter is a tool that adds friction. It is not a guarantee. Do not rely on it as your only safeguard for anything that matters.
6. Not a medical or therapeutic service
Perimeter is a productivity and self-management tool. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or therapy, and it is not a substitute for professional care. If you are managing a compulsive behaviour, an addiction, or a mental health condition, please seek support from a qualified professional. Perimeter may be useful alongside that support; it is not a replacement for it.
7. Acceptable use
You may use Perimeter only on devices you own or are expressly authorized to configure.
Do not use Perimeter to restrict, monitor, or control another adult's device without their knowledge and consent. Arrangements where another person holds your passcode must be voluntary and consensual on both sides. Parents and guardians may configure devices belonging to minors in their care, consistent with applicable law.
8. Availability and changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue Perimeter or any feature at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to give notice of significant changes in the app. If we discontinue the app entirely, active subscriptions will not renew, and existing blocks may remain in effect on your device until you remove the app.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
Perimeter is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant that Perimeter will block any particular app, that it will function without error, or that it will meet your requirements.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, For Purpose Labs LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost opportunities, missed communications, missed deadlines, or loss of access to your own device, arising from your use of or inability to use Perimeter.
Our total liability for any claim relating to Perimeter is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim, or $50, whichever is greater. Since purchases are made through Apple, this amount may be zero.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless For Purpose Labs LLC from claims arising out of your use of Perimeter in violation of these terms or applicable law, including any use of Perimeter to restrict a device you do not own or are not authorized to configure.
12. Apple
You acknowledge that these terms are between you and For Purpose Labs LLC, not Apple, and that Apple is not responsible for Perimeter or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Perimeter. In the event of any failure of Perimeter to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to Perimeter, including product liability claims, consumer protection claims, or claims of intellectual property infringement. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
13. Termination
You may stop using Perimeter at any time by deleting it. Note that deleting the app also removes all blocks it was enforcing. We may terminate your license if you materially breach these terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer resident in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction whose law grants you the right to bring proceedings locally, nothing here removes that right.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date will change, and material changes will be flagged in the app. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
